Ready to start making something FOOLish? There are several workshops to get involved!
And remember: these workshops are FREE (although we won’t actively prevent you from making the suggested $10/luminary donation that helps us run these events each year).
2020 THEME is “Fossil Fools”
Dates: REMAINING DATES CANCELED
10am-5pm. (Get here early for a good seat!)
YOU (yes you!) are invited to create your own GLOW for FOOLMoon this year!! The luminous splendor of FOOLMoon, Friday, April 3, 2020 sunset to 11pm, is even more magical if you make your own luminary and join a processional into downtown Ann Arbor!
Come to our popular drop-in Luminary Workshops at Workantile and get hands-on help from several of the region’s most talented public art artists. We will have everything you need from supplies, to coffee, to music and merriment.
P.S. Non “creatives” and bad stick figure drawers are welcome (and encouraged) to come!! Luminaries are about commUNITY creative celebration, not perfection!
Portion of supplies generously provided by Ace Barnes Hardware, drinks by Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea.
So, drop in a Luminary Workshop next Sunday with your friends and family and make it happen. Or, if you prefer, see our instructions for making a luminary at home.
Dates: March 15, 18, 22, 29; April 2, 5 – ALL DATES CANCELED
The Ann Arbor District Library invites you to join them in building your own small puppets and a larger commUNITY project!
And of course, you’ll have a GLOWing opportunity to make a FOOLMoon lantern to light up the night while you mingle, dance, and celebrate with friends.

Get ready for FOOLMoon and FestiFOOLs by making your own fossil-inspired craft!
The Hands-On Museum in Downtown Ann Arbor is providing 6 workshops that celebrate this year’s theme: FossilFOOLs.
Learn a little about how fossils are formed, then make a fossil of your own! Will you make a glow-in-the-dark dinosaur? The tusks of a mammoth? Or something from your own imagination? You bring the creativity and they provide the supplies!
These events require a small fee to attend. Please see their calendar of events HERE for more information.
Location: Ann Arbor Art Center
Dates: March 14, 12:00pm – 4:00pm; April 5 2:30pm-5pm – CANCELED
March 14: Have a roarin’ good time making Recycle-Saurus puppets for the FestiFOOLs Parade, keeping with this year’s theme “FossilFOOLs.” This project may take up to an hour and the Ann Arbor Art Center encourages families to arrive before 3pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
April 5: Families are encouraged to bring their Recycle-Saurus puppets to the FestiFOOLs Parade on Sunday, April 5th. You may walk next to the GIANT Recycle-Saurus puppet in the parade or show support from the crowd. If you would like to walk in the parade with the Ann Arbor Art Center, dress your crazy, zany dinosaur-best and meet at the Art Center at 3:30pm. Parade walkers and supporters may come by as early as 2:30pm for pre-parade refreshments and to make a festive dinosaur egg shaker.
