WHAT is ypsiGLOW?

On Friday October 26th from 7-10 p.m., downtown Ypsilanti will glow bright with hundreds of community and artist creations, for a night of dancing, DJ’s raised into the air, interactive art activities, black-lit stations, street performances, glowing window displays, and more.

This year we’re partnering with even more businesses and organizations to create a brighter and more bombastic event — with you!

Be sure to join us at our office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am to 2 pm at Ypsilanti District Library, 229 W. Michigan Avenue, to share your dreams and visions. Now through October 18th. Check with the front desk for meeting room location.

In the weeks leading up to the event, community members of all ages are invited to participate in FREE creative workshops to make luminaries for the event, co-hosted by local artists, businesses, and organizations. GLOWorkshops are on Sundays (Oct 7, 14, 21) from 11 am to 4 pm at Riverside Arts Center, 76 N Huron St in Ypsilanti.

Local artists also activate downtown storefronts with installations, showing just how vibrant downtown Ypsilanti can be. Several of these windows come to life during the event, along with over a dozen other multi-media projects, like video projections, giant luminaries, performance art, live painting, shadow puppets, chalk muralists, and laser shows.

For artists interested in participating, fill out of our artist proposal form here. For businesses or organizations interested in hosting a window or workshop, sign up here.

WHO’s invited?

Anyone and Everyone! ypsiGLOW invites people of all ages and abilities, from all corners of our community, to unlock their creativity and imaginations. Come to the event on Friday, October 26th and visit a GLOWorkshop to create your own glow!

WHY have ypsiGLOW?

There is immense power in community art events like ypsiGLOW that celebrate diversity and connect people through creative, collaborative, and shared expression. WonderFool Productions’ mission is to foster an inclusive event that generates cultural + economic impact downtown to become an Ypsi signature event, built by and for the community.

At the first ypsiGLOW in 2016, over 1,200 people of all ages and backgrounds danced and played together – delighting in the creative, fun, colorful and unexpected. ypsiGLOW is much more than one-night, it is a month-long process of instilling, teaching, and supporting creative literacy and community vibrancy. . . Come join us!
